Advanced Youth Offending Services Officer - London


We are looking to recruit for an Advanced Youth Offending Services Officer to work for a Greater London Borough Authority on a temporary 3 month contract .The post holder will be responsible for the management of a caseload and to identify, develop and deliver, in partnership with other YOTPS staff and relevant external partner agencies appropriate interventions and preventative initiatives, designed to prevent re-offending of young offenders.


Responsibilities:



  • To manage a caseload of youth justice cases, both out of court disposals and statutory court orders, at the standards according to the National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework.

  • With the Child First, Offender Second approach, to provide effective support and interventions to children and young people to complete their disposals / orders and live a crime-free life.

  • Using AssetPlus as Assessment and Planning tool to undertake case management with specific focus on building foundation for change and desistance factors in order to support children and young people to refrain from offending and re-offending.

  • To contribute to the development and implementation of a range of effective solutions to youth crime. This may include taking a lead in working with looked after children, children and young people leaving custody, group work, prolific young offenders, EET, bail and remand, restorative justice, serious youth violence and victims.

  • To proactively promote the welfare of children and young people, focusing on reducing risks of harm and promoting safety and well-being.

  • To involve and consult with children and young people, their families and / or victims as appropriate to improve and identify new working practices.


To be successful:


You will have proven experience of direct work with children, young people, families and the community and experience of carrying out ASSET+ to assess the need and risk of children and young people. You will also have knowledge of legislation, standards and requirements relating to youth justice
